TRADITIONAL SCOTTISH SCONES
The Dell of Abernathy Scones Recipe
250g plain flour
3 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp sugar
50g butter, cold and cut into cubes
150-175ml milk or buttermilk
Pre-heat oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Mix together dry ingredients, then rub in butter until it resembles breadcrumbs. Mix in milk until the mixture comes together. It should be a little bit sticky but not too wet. Flour your work surface and turn out the scone mix. Press or roll out flat to about 2cm thick. Cut into rounds with a cutter or into triangles with a large knife. Brush the tops with milk then bake for 12-15 mins until risen and golden. Enjoy with ample fresh butter and jam!
