Your Ace Camps Travel Host will provide full details including specific times and locations to you through the WhatsApp group chat and in person. Keep in mind, this is a prospective itinerary. It is subject to modest modifications, depending on local weather + opportunities.

Day 1 - FRIDAY OCTOBER 3

Welcome to Bari, Italy! 

Our journey begins in the city of Bari, Italy. Make your way to our hotel in Bari and settle into your room and we’ll meet early evening for a casual welcome dinner at the hotel.

Guests should plan to be ready to meet for your welcome meeting at the hotel around 5:30pm. Alecia, your Ace Camps Travel Tour Host, will confirm your specific welcome meeting time and location at the hotel on the morning of October 3rd in your whatsapp group chat.

Consideration: Tomorrow is a long, busy day of travel and activities, please consider an early night tonight so you can be well rested for your days ahead.

Day 2 - SATURDAY OCTOBER 4

Breakfast at the hotel  

This morning we have a guided walking tour of Bari with a particular lens on sustainable fashion, promoting a shift away from fast fashion. You’ll learn about how vintage fashion came to Bari and how it is evolving. (Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes as you will be walking for roughly 2-3 hours).

We’ll have a casual lunch in Bari before we begin our journey south to our villa in Southern Puglia. It’s roughly a 2 hour drive. You’ll have some time to settle into the property before we enjoy dinner at the villa together.

Day 3 -  SUNDAY OCTOBER 5

Today we have a full-day session with Arounna. This morning we begin with an introduction to materials and go through the techniques we’ll be exploring together throughout the week. We will start with creating a small sampler of the different stitches and patching techniques using woven fabrics. We’ll continue learning and practicing techniques throughout the afternoon. Day 4 - MONDAY OCTOBER 6

We have another full-day workshop with Arounna today. This morning you begin the day working on your sampler on wool fabric learning different darning techniques like woven mend, Scottish darning, blanket stitch, and Swiss darning. 

This afternoon we’ll get started on our upcycled button-down shirt project. First, we’ll take a look at the shifts everyone has brought with them and talk about how the shirt will be deconstructed to create a new garment by cutting off the sleeves, turning the shirt into a smock, or combining two different shirts together. We will incorporate some of the patching and stitching we learned on the previous day. 

Late afternoon a local woman will come to the villa and lead a hands-on pasta making workshop. Your dinner this evening will feature the pasta you make during your class.

Day 5 - TUESDAY OCTOBER 7

Today we venture to the beautiful town of Lecce, known as the “southern Florence” filled with Baroque architecture for a morning guided walking tour. This afternoon, enjoy a group lunch followed by some free time to shop and relax before returning to the villa. Group dinner at the villa.

Day 6 - WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 8

Let’s explore more of Southern Puglia! This morning we’ll stop by the workshop of a local women’s weaving and fabric cooperative
Le Costantine to learn about their process. Then we travel to the beautiful seaside town of Otranto with some time to wander. Pressed against clear Adriatic waters at Italy’s easternmost point, Otranto’s small whitewashed medieval core is a pretty place for a stroll.

You’ll have a late lunch in Otranto before returning to the villa mid afternoon. Time to relax or work on your projects self guided. Group dinner at the villa.

Day 7 - THURSDAY OCTOBER 9

Today is an all day working session with Arounna. In our last workshop day together, we will continue working on the construction of your upcycled shirt and you will begin to add decorative Sashiko style stitching to the surface of the shirts and learn how to create your own patterns.

Group dinner tonight will feature local pizza!

Day 8 - FRIDAY OCTOBER 10

This morning we pack our bags, say our farewells and take a private bus back to Bari for your onward journey.  We will be departing the villa early, around 8:15am this morning. The approximate arrival time at Bari Airport will be 11:00am with the other stops following this drop off.

We will make two or three stops in this order:

Stop 1: For guests catching flights: Bari Airport

Stop 2: If needed ~ Bari Centrale Train Station 

Stop 3: Movenpick Hotel Bari (located in central Bari town)

*Reminder about meals during your trip, with a wide range of dietary preferences we will do our best to accommodate everyone as best as we can. Dairy and gluten are dominant parts of the culinary culture in Italy. Most of your meals will be set menus served family style without options to choose specific items off a menu but you will be able to choose from the dishes served.
