Morrocan Muse: Travel Journaling - Mixed Media
April 21 - 28, 2012
A trip to Morocco in North Africa while journaling with Suzanne Northcott is the perfect opportunity to encounter and absorb this rich, colourful, exotic place through the lens of self-reflection and expression with a teacher whose reputation for generosity and wisdom is matched by her capacity for fun.
Sketchbook journaling invites levels of response and expression: from quick and playful pen and watercolour impressions, capturing the atmosphere and life around you, to mixed media and written pages that may contain deeply personal responses to your experience, insights, dreams and ideas.

Time spent drawing and reflecting when you are traveling invites a kind of presence that illuminates the moments you are recording. When you return home, you may know a little more about yourself and you will have a real record of your experiences: tastes, colours, feelings and impressions, an unrepeatable treasure.
Our journey will include roaming the medina and shopping in the souks, visiting the Jardin Majorelle – where giant palms and couture-elegant cacti are backed by flashes of brilliant blue ceramic - experiencing the beach town of Essaouira, museums and absorbing the soul and fabric of Moroccan art and culture.
We will also visit the Jemaa el Fna at night – a magical, almost mystical experience and be part of the extraordinary spectacle with snake-charmers, Berber dancers and groups of musicians, wander through the souks sketching and observing the sites and sounds of Marrakech.
Suzanne Northcott has traveled extensively, taking groups of students to Italy, Spain and Mexico for over twenty years. She is a sought-after lecturer and respected instructor; as a workshop leader Suzanne often combines international cultural excursions with painting and yoga instruction.
