Beatrice Peltre | Ireland + it's Food Culture | Clare, Ireland | September 15 - 20, 2013


Bea Peltre will be leading a 4 day workshop on storytelling of the food culture of Ireland in East County Clare.  You will learn or enhance your food photography skills, visit a farm, cook together and learn about Irish cooking. Bea will cover topics about styling, composition and photo editing.

This group will be spending 5 nights at an Estate with over 300 acres of mature natural woodlands, heather clad mountains, beautiful gardens and stunning lake views in one of the most beautiful parts of rural Ireland. The Estate is completely private with breathtaking views of Lough Graney and is located 35 minutes from Limerick or Galway City. 

If you are interested in learning about food styling and photography while spending time in Ireland this is your chance. SLR is required with understanding of basic elements of photography such as aperture, exposure, shutter speed. Tripod is a plus. Workshops and demonstration will cover food photography as well as cooking classes and will include local farms visits and some meals in a nearby pub.

BÉATRICE PELTRE was born and raised in the countryside in northeastern France. She is a freelance food writer, stylist and photographer, and the author of the award-winning blog La Tartine Gourmande. September 16, 2013

Breakfast - 7:30 – 8:30am

9:30am – Introduction to workshop and discussion on the food and culture of Ireland. Morning property walk to the shoreline, stables and through the forest.

Lunch - 12:30pm – at the Estate

2:00 – 5:00pm - Food photography and styling demonstration and discussion.  Practice shoots with various props and foods.

Dinner - 7:30 – in the formal dining room at the Estate.

September 17, 2013

Breakfast - 7:30 – 8:30am

9:30am –  Morning discussion and workshop followed by a trip through County Clare to a nearby farm for photo shoot. Bea will have discussion on what to look for when taking shots on location.

Lunch - 12:30pm – picnic lunch at the farm

4:00pm - Food photography and styling demonstration and critique of days photos.  

Dinner - 7:30 – Prepared together and served in the formal dining room at the Estate.


September 18, 2013

Breakfast - 7:30 – 8:30am

Morning fishing on the lake – optional.

9:30am –  Discussion and photoshoot, prop styling and special tips with Bea at the estate.

Lunch - 12:30pm – at the Estate

Following lunch we will head into a nearby village for photoshoot, shopping and tea / beverage in a local café.  Bea will meet with small groups and discuss what to look for when taking pictures in a small town.  (Group discussions will be arranged)

Dinner - 7:30 – Prepared together with cooking class and is served in the formal dining room at the Estate.

September 19, 2013

Breakfast - 7:30 – 8:00am

8:15am – Travel to Farmer’s Market. Market shots of produce, animals and lifestyle location shoots of and Irish Farmer’s Market

Lunch - 12:30pm – at the Farmers Market

Return to the Estate - 

 - Food photography and styling demonstration and critique of days photos.  

Dinner - 7:30 – Final night dinner and wine at the Estate.

September 20, 2013

Travel day.  Transportation will be organized once flight arrangements have been submitted.
